Booking limits cap how many times a single event type can be booked in a period. Use them to stop one meeting type from filling your calendar. ## Prerequisites - An event type that already exists on your account - Permission to edit that event type ## Steps ### Step 1: Open the event type Open **Event types** and select the event type you want to limit. Its editor opens on the Basics tab. ![Open the event type](https://cal.supportpages.io/rails/active_storage/blobs/proxy/eyJfcmFpbHMiOnsiZGF0YSI6ODA3NCwicHVyIjoiYmxvYl9pZCJ9fQ==--49f9e78f818cb1f4b68b82dc6d17f19cc1e2f562/block_open-event-type.png) ### Step 2: Open the Limits tab Select **Limits** in the editor sidebar, then turn on **Limit booking frequency**. Cal.com starts you with a limit of one booking per day. ![Open the Limits tab](https://cal.supportpages.io/rails/active_storage/blobs/proxy/eyJfcmFpbHMiOnsiZGF0YSI6ODA5MCwicHVyIjoiYmxvYl9pZCJ9fQ==--6058a8bec9a60429a349da8502bcad8993394f31/block_open-limits-tab.png) ### Step 3: Set the count and the period Enter the number of bookings allowed, then pick the period from **Per day**, **Per week**, or **Per month**. Select **Save** in the top-right corner of the editor. ![Set the count and the period](https://cal.supportpages.io/rails/active_storage/blobs/proxy/eyJfcmFpbHMiOnsiZGF0YSI6ODA5MiwicHVyIjoiYmxvYl9pZCJ9fQ==--1058c6bb3028ea354f5e899c24947f3cad2f92d0/block_set-the-limit.png) ## Tips - A booking limit applies to the whole event type, not to individual bookers. **Limit total booking duration** caps the total booked time instead of the number of meetings. - **Only show the first slot of each day as available** is stricter than a frequency limit: it leaves a single bookable slot per day. - An event type can carry more than one limit at a time, so a **Per day** cap and a **Per week** cap can both apply. ## Summary Booking limits cap how many times an event type can be booked in a period. Open the event type, turn on **Limit booking frequency** on the **Limits** tab, set the count and the period, and save.
